This social networking site has the world's media buzzing, and businesses, organizations and even governments jumping on the social media bandwagon. Twitter is the perfect starting point for learning the etiquette of social media and can be used for research, marketing, networking and socializing, both locally and internationally.
Workshop Curriculum:
- Who uses Twitter, and how they use it
- How to set up a Twitter profile and background
- What to put in that "What's Happening?" box
- How to find people to follow, and start conversations with them
- Why Twitter's 140 characters is just a front door for more information and conversation
- How to build a Twitter community
- Tips that will transfer to other social networking sites
Once you are tweeting, we will use #SectorSM to carry on the learning together outside the classroom setting.

Prerequisites:
This course is ideal for members of Victoria's professional community who have no or minimal experience using Twitter.
Basic computer skills are necessary to complete this course. These skills include: a basic understanding of a computer's operating system, the ability to navigate the environment using a mouse and keyboard, an understanding of computer file storage, launching an application, and creating and saving files. It is also recommended that students are also familiar with using the internet.
